Remote Learning Updates

                                                                                                        April 28, 2020

Good Morning,

I hope you and your family are continuing to do well. I just wanted to send you a quick message to update you on the upcoming weeks of remote learning. I hope that the new calendar/agenda is easier to follow for the daily assignments. Schoology has been running much smoother the last two weeks which is a huge help! The students will continue to also use EPIC which is an online remote library of books. If your child would like to read a book on the side, they may certainly do so.

As we continue with remote learning, a video mini lesson will be provided for every new lesson in Math and Reading. If your child needs additional help with a topic or days question, they can certainly reach out on Schoology and I will provide them with additional support. We will also continue to utilize Friday’s as catch up days with a light work load for the students. Also, the district is currently in the process of working on Class Trip refunds.

I am SO proud of the students and ALL they have accomplished so far! I find myself daily thinking “If only I had…” but then realize that no-one could have ever predicted that we would be where we are today. I am beyond proud of my eight and nine year olds and all that they have accomplished! Seeing them help each other daily and find new and creative ways to complete an assignment makes me so proud! I love getting their pictures or videos! Thank you for your continued support as well!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about remote learning or if your child needs additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Mrs. Tirone

I would just like to take the time to congratulate the students on their hard work this week! I am beyond proud of the students for navigating through this brand new experience! Also, a special thank-you to all of you, the parents, for helping them through! There has been such teamwork on Schoology this week helping one another with questions.
As I have mentioned, the daily agenda is only a guide. If it is difficult for your child to keep pace, you may break up the assignments into two days.
** Reminder, if your child sees Mrs. DeSanto, Mrs. Brounstein or Mrs. Morton for Language Arts or Math, please be sure to check their Schoology page for assigned work daily. **
Please continue to email me if you have any questions. Also, your child is able to continue asking me through Schoology on our Homeroom discussion board.
Stay Safe!
Mrs. Tirone

I hope everyone is well. We have successfully completed our first week of remote learning. From my end, I think it was a success. The students seem to be enjoying the morning meetings the most! I am going to try and incorporate more share questions where they can upload pictures of themselves or an activity they completed so the classmates can see their friends. I know this was a big hit for them last week on the PTO page! The students have been doing a wonderful job asking me questions on our Schoology page. The agenda for this week will remain the same. Students will have two days to complete each math lesson. Tomorrow and Tuesday, they will work on 13.3. If it is easier, your child may watch the learning bridge video, complete Xtra Math and complete the workbook problems day 1. On day 2, they may work on the Pearson Practice Buddy and Quick Check. If they would like to complete Xtra Math everyday, they may.

Please check your emails for the updated Social Studies Country of Origin agendas. This will give the students a day by day activity to complete. If the students already have a component complete, that is fine. Examples of completed flags, maps and projects can be found on the Schoology Social Studies page for you and your child.  If it gets time to work on the flag or poster and we are unable to go out, please do not worry. The third grade teachers completely understand the unique circumstances.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
